A unique guide to watching birds, featuring a collection of over 110 video clips of native birds filmed in the wild by nature lover and cameraman Steve Sheers.

Seeing a photograph of a bird is one thing but observing its behaviour can be a great help in identifying it. Watch as a Mallee fowl tends its mound. Hear a Whistling Kite calling from the treetops or see a Willie Wagtail flit about. By watching birds such as a Golden Whistler, a Babbler or Fantail using Australian Birds, you can easily see how or why they were named.

In addition to the video clip, the app presents details for each bird, including a map of the areas where it can be found. And with more than 100 birds listed, a useful function is the ability to mark and recall favourites.

In Australian Birds, all information and video clips are stored in the app which means that you can watch the clips anywhere. No network connection is required when searching or viewing.

Filming has taken place all over Australia, from the Kimberley to the Gulf and down through the Channel Country into the Simpson desert. Many birds have been filmed along the Murray River as well as the Mallee, the SA border area and the Flinders Rangers. Steve continues to travel and find additional birds to add to his collection, so keep an eye out for new clips as they become available.

Clips feature behavioural footage of the birds as they go about their daily lives. All birds have been filmed in the wild except for the Orange-bellied Parrot, now almost extinct. Captive birds may behave very differently from those in the wild and indeed it is the ability to be able to see the behaviour of all the birds, that makes Australian Birds so unique.
